Obituary for Ronald "Skipper" S. Franklin, Sr.

Ronald "Skipper" S. Franklin, Sr. of Bliss, NY passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw at the age of 79.

He was born December 22, 1941 in Hamburg, NY, a son of the late Donald and Virginia (Dabolt) Franklin.

He was a Farmer at Stony Ridge Dairy Farm in Bliss. In his free time, he enjoyed playing the piano and hunting. He was a man of faith, a very social person who loved people and was also a farmer at heart. He grew up in Hamburg where he went to school and was given his nickname of "Holstein." He was a member and one of the original founders of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Hermitage where he also served as a church elder.

His first wife, Marjorie Lea (Gates) Franklin, whom he married on July 29, 1961 in Hamburg, passed away in 2007.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Franklin, whom he married July 25, 2020 in Bliss; his sons: Ronald (Laura) Franklin, Jr. and Anthony (Laurie) Franklin both of Bliss; his sister, Sue Ann (Jim) Evans of North Collins; his sister-in-law, Joanne (Terry) Schutt of Boston, NY; also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents, his first wife and his brother, Richard Scott Franklin.

Friends may call on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 6pm-8pm at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St. Arcade where a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11am with Pastor Ron Brown officiating. Final interment will be held in Lyonsburg Cemetery in Bliss.
