Obituary for Richard Mills
Richard Mills of Machias, NY passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at his residence at the age of 79.
He was born January 7, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA a son of the late Wilbur and Mary (Spauckus) Mills. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Machias and was very passionate about his 1970 Norton Commando motorcycle, which he bought new and kept throughout his life. He also enjoyed deep-sea fishing, hunting, and feeding the wildlife and the birds.
He had worked as a machinist prior to becoming a Shipwright at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard in Long Beach, CA. He eventually relocated to the Buffalo, NY area in 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Bockstedt) Mills, whom he married April 15, 2001 in Reno, NV; his children: Cathy (Tony) Freitas of Sacramento, CA, and Michael (Susan) Mills of Sacramento, CA; step-son, Justin (Jolene) Nevins of Twentynine Palms, CA; his sister, Patricia (Rick) Crooks of Iowa; his nephews, Robert and Raymond Crooks of Iowa; also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Patrick Mills and his siblings: Gerard Mills and Darlene Borsch.
There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the First Christian Church, 9658 Main St., Machias at 12PM with Pastor Ross Thompson officiating.
