Obituary for Laverne I. Phillippi
Laverne I. Phillippi of Chester, SC and formerly of Sardinia, NY passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the age of 91.
He was born May 3, 1930 in Chaffee, NY a son of the late Irving and Beatrice (Adams) Phillippi. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eden, NY and the Chaffee-Sardinia Fire Department. He enjoyed tractors, keeping busy and mowing lawn for his grandsons.
He was the owner and operator of L. Phillippi, Inc. in Hamburg, NY.
His wife, Gail E. (Opferbeck) Phillippi whom he married September 30, 1961 in Blasdell, NY passed away on June 11, 2020.
Laverne is survived by his children: Mark I. (Flora Rose) Phillippi of Franklinville, Michelle (Daniel) Phillippi-Moran of Rock Hill, SC, Melissa G. (Sherwood) Levitsky of Chester, SC and Steve (Phyllis) Swinarski of Reidsville, NC; his siblings: Marianne (late Floyd) Harbeck of Farmersville, Cora (Ed) Krueger of Chaffee, Arlene (late Harold) Wagner of Delevan, Gale (Diane) Phillippi of Tempe, AZ and June Phillippi of Chaffee; his grandchildren: Amanda Phillippi, Jessica Brodie, Luke Phillippi, Steve Swinarski, Jr., and McKenzi Cragg; also survived by six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: William (Evelyn) Phillippi and Shirley (Howard) Evans.
Friends may call on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 11am with Pastor Thomas Lutz officiating. Interment will be held in Sardinia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3487 N. Boston Rd., Eden, NY 14057.
