Obituary for Laurene Joyce Ameis
Laurene Joyce Ameis of Arcade, NY passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at The Pines in Machias at the age of 79.
She was born March 10, 1943 in Franklinville, NY, a daughter of the late Leila (Cook) Roberts. Laurie enjoyed time with her family, gardening, and traveling to many parts of New York and other states. Laurie and Norm were active members of the Wyoming County Maple Producer's Association. She was a graduate of Erie County Technical Institute, and she worked as a Medical Lab Technician and was employed by several local supermarkets in their produce and bakery departments. She retired in January 2006 as a baker from Arcade Market Place.
Laurie married Norman Ameis Jr. on July 11, 1964. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Norm; and children: Lee (Sharon) Ameis and Paul (Jill) Ameis; her brothers, Marlin (Helen) Gillette and Alton (Gail) Gillette; and six grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made in her honor to Friends of the Pines.
