Obituary for Harlan A. Spruce

Harlan A. Spruce of Chaffee, NY passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at his residence at the age of 69.

He was born February 27, 1951 in Gowanda, NY a son of the late Nelson C. and Alice G. (Jones) Spruce Sr. He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran and served from 1971-1972. He enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine listening to his records and enjoying life. He also loved playing the drums and was a member of the Bob Wylie and the Country Gentleman Band.

Harlan worked in maintenance for 40 years at Fisher Price in East Aurora.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Pacanowski) Spruce whom he married on November 17, 1973 in Hamburg; his children: Heather Spruce of Chaffee and Scott Spruce of Arcade; his siblings: Nelson (Audrey) Spruce, Jr., Marcia (late Michael) Sullivan, Esther (Elliott) Tallchief, Derlan (Kelly) Spruce, Lloyd Spruce, Fred (Debra) Spruce and Patrick (Laura) Spruce; a foster brother - Ken Papke; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Luane Spruce, Craig Tomkins, Carol & Jim Hunt, Gerald & Nancy Pacanowski; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his foster parents, Harlan and Helen Blood; his siblings: Carolyn (Ronald) Howe, Cyrus Spruce, Alvin Spruce, Henrietta Spruce, Elaine Spruce and Susan Tomkins; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Patricia & Bud Mombrun, James & Margaret Pacanowski, Lawrence & Kathy Pacanowski.

There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
