Obituary for Dean R. Rogers

Dean R. Rogers formerly of Delevan, NY passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville at the age of 91.

He was born December 3, 1930 in Arcade, NY a son of the late Rupert and Eleanor (Eggert) Rogers.

He was a rural mail carrier for many years for the Delevan Post Office. Dean enjoyed all sports. He enjoyed playing on several bowling leagues as well as playing for several baseball town teams. Additionally, he had professional horse shoe pits in his back yard where he hosted the Round Robin Horseshoe Club for many decades. He played in numerous tournaments and won several awards. He was also a member of the Machias American Legion Post #1460 and was a United States Marine who served during the Korean War.

He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Jane (Whitefield) Rogers whom he married on July 25, 1953 in Arcade. She passed away on February 3, 2018.

He is survived by his twin sons: Darryl (Gina) Rogers of Arkansas and Douglas (Diane) Rogers of Texas; his sister-in-law, Bonnie Rogers of Bliss; also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Colonel Charles (Georgette) Rogers, Kathryn Scripter, Margaret (Minor "Mike") Tanner, Eleanor (Robert) Schiener, Paul Rogers, and Barbara Klinck.

Interment with military honors will take place Friday, July 1, 2022 at 11 AM at the Delevan Cemetery, 11077 Delevan-Elton Road, Delevan, NY 14042. All are welcome to attend.
