Obituary for Betty Grace Colligan
Betty Grace Colligan of Montgomery, TX and formerly of Bliss, NY passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the age of 92.
She was born June 5, 1930 in Newark, NY and was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Marjorie (Hoose) Cottrell. She lived in Bliss, NY until 2020 when she moved to Texas to live with her daughter, Alice. She was a lifetime member of the Bliss American Legion Auxiliary and was also a member of both the Bliss and Arcade Senior Citizens. She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises.
Betty is survived by her children: Barbara Meacham of Rochester, Alice Robinson of Montgomery, TX and William (Lisa) Bower of Galveston, TX; her step-sons: Mike Colligan of King George, VA, Gary (Deborah) Colligan of Springwater, NY and Brian Colligan of Thailand. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a nephew, Mike (Colleen) Cottrell.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, James Colligan; her son, Robert Bower; her brother, Jack Cottrell; her niece, Linda Jones and her nephew, James Cottrell.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11am at the Sardinia Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow for friends and family at 12:30pm at the Bliss American Legion, 3377 Main St., Bliss.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bliss American Legion #1720 Auxiliary, P.O. Box 22, Bliss, NY 14024.
